Shoppers know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but the weekend between the two is Small Business Saturday.

?It?is a huge challenge because you are trying to capture the customers that other small businesses are trying to capture as well,? said Kathy Miller, a Hang-Ups employee.? ?

Small businesses make up about 48 percent of all North Carolina?s businesses.

?Small businesses depend on customers coming to support us, they are the ones that make us thrive, without our customers we would not be here. It?s huge,? Miller said. ?

Black Friday marks one year of being in business for Daisy Designer Alley in Greensboro.?

The store is divided into about 40 booths that vendors rent and sell their own merchandise from.?

The business?s bottom line counts on the?money from the holiday shopping months.?

?A large amount, it?s the part that carries you through for the rest of the year the 2-3 months. Around Christmas is very important,? said Rich Vanwuyckhuyse, an owner of Daisy?s.? ?

A local advocacy group says for every $100 spent at a locally-owned businesses, $68 says in the community and goes to support jobs, and the local economy.?
